About Mikko

Hi there - my name's Mikko, and I'm a 4-year-old brown Standard Poodle with a big heart, a sharp nose, and a story that's still being written. My life has had a few twists and turns, and while my family couldn't keep me, I'm still hoping there's someone out there who can give me the calm, loving home I've been dreaming of. Inside the house, I'm the definition of polite - impeccably house-trained and crate-trained, and already neutered. I'm what you might call a sensitive soul - loyal, and affectionate once I feel safe. I don't like to rush things, so I appreciate a little time and space to get to know my surroundings and new people. Like many poodles, I'm cautious of strangers - but once I decide you're part of my pack, you'll have my heart forever. Classic poodle move! When I was younger, I had some hunting training. Though I have to admit - I did not inherit the love of water! Ducks? Not really my thing. But give me a good squirrel or rabbit trail, and I'll follow that scent for hours. My prey drive is strong, so I'd do best in a home without cats or small animals (they mock me!) and a securely fenced yard would make me one very happy boy. I sometimes get reactive on leash (lots of new smells and sights can overwhelm me), but I do much better in off-leash play areas where I can relax and just be a dog. I'm really hoping to find a patient, experienced family that speaks fluent Poodle - someone who understands that trust is earned, not rushed. A calm home, no young kids, but maybe some older ones who know how to respect boundaries, would be perfect. I'd also do wonderfully as your one and only best friend or with another poodle or working dog buddy. Because I'm a thoughtful guy, I'm really hoping for a family that would allow a slow, gradual introduction - something that gives us both time to understand if we could be a lasting match!
