About Grace

Meet Grace Grace is as perfect as they come. Grace's family went away and never came back for her. Maybe that was fortuitous because she now has a new name, Grace (because that is all she's going to know going forward), and a second chance at a loving life. Grace is an eight/ nine-year-old chi/pug mix with trusting eyes, a cream-colored coat and a softly wagging tail. She is so deserving of a person/family where she only knows kindness and safety, gentle hands, a warm lap, comfy blankets, and companionship. She is a little angel who just wants to be loved and show love. Grace is 17 lbs. of sugar. She is as gentle as a lamb. She loves being held. She loves going for walks and is an easy stroller. She enjoys fresh air and warm sunshine. She enjoys seeing other dogs and seems to like them. She would probably be fine with cats as she has an easy-going personality. Grace is housebroken. She travels well. Grace wants to be where her people are and to never feel left behind again. To meet Grace is to want to protect her from the world and never let her know fear or loneliness again. Grace has captured the hearts of our shelter staff and volunteers with her quiet dignity and open heart. She welcomes every ounce of attention she can get. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out-of-state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship, nor do we transport them to their new homes. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are either owner relinquished rescued from area Animal Controls or high kill shelters. The facility usually operates at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.
