Name: Ricky Age: DOB 10/28/12 Breed: Shih-Poo, just under 20 pounds Sex: Male (neutered) Location: Palm Beach County, Florida Due to health issues, owner is no longer able to care for Ricky. Vet Info: Ricky was diagnosed with diabetes a few months ago, which is controlled by insulin - Vetsulin, 6 units, 2x day. He also has mature cataracts and is completely blind. Ricky also has Dry Eye and a heart murmur was found last month. His eyes are treated with drops in both eyes twice daily. Ricky is microchipped, current with vaccinations and HW-. He also is on Hills w/d canned food. Ricky has been treated a few times for ear infections. Dog Info: Ricky is no longer completely housebroken since he has been diagnosed with diabetes but caregiver is working on that. Ricky is crate trained. He knows the commands, stay and come. He is very well behaved on leash. He is good with men and women, as well as male and female dogs of all sizes. Owner has no children or cats so does not know how he is with them. Ricky was an only dog and is now staying with a vet tech that has additional animals and is doing well there. Ricky is protective of food, toys and remote controls (Ricky likes to steal pens and remote controls). Ricky does require muzzling at the vet and groomer. Ricky's owner describes him as prancing when he walks, loves people and dogs, walks outside, playing with squeaky toys and other dogs. He is described as being affectionate with his people and is a quick learner that easily adapts to new surroundings. **Owner Surrender Disclaimer: These are blind and visually impaired dogs who are living in homes, but their owners can no longer keep them.
