Courtesy Posting: HEARTBREAKING SITUATION - ABANDONED AND SHELTER BOUND SWEET CHOW BOY 'COALTON' IN NEED OF IMMEDIATE PLACEMENT W/ FOSTER OR ADOPTER SO HE DOES END UP AT/ ON MARICOPA'S EUTH LIST LIKE MOST OTHER CHOWS THERE. HE IS GOOD W/ OTHER DOGS! This dear boy was seen by neighbors for days having to eat trash off the street as he was starving. Being black, he also was at higher risk to be hit by a car. A good Samaritan was thankfully able to get him in her car and to her home to hold temporarily, in hopes an owner would be found. He has been posted for days on multiple sites, but sadly it appears he was dumped. The good Sam does not want to take him to Maricopa shelter who has made so many chows Rescue only and placed on the euth list. He is friendly with people, but like many chows, is shy at first, and would do poorly in a shelter environment. The Good sam has now had him for about a week but cannot hold onto him much longer due to being in a small rental with other pets of her own. We are now calling this boy Coalton and the finder/good sam has great things to say about him as follows, 'He's sweet. He comes when called. He gets along with other dogs, Males and female, Big and small. So far he doesn't bark much. Quite loyal. Already follows me every where I go. He's housebroken but needs more leash training. Doesn't pull on the leash just doesn't like his direction guided. Seems young. He's quite calm and adaptable. No destructive chewing behaviors that I've observed. The only issue I've had is that he mounts my male dog which I think is because he is probably not neutered. Does not seem to have separation anxiety' If we can find a foster or good home, we will help to find a sponsor and or rescue to assist with vaccinations and his neuter. If you are interested in learning more about Coalton to adopt or foster, or would like to contribute to this care or rescue, please contact [email protected] at Southern California Chow Chow Rescue Network who is trying to assist in his placement so he does not end up at the Maricopa shelter where he will likely be killed. We are looking for a responsible foster (local enough to a willing rescue) or a forever home in a position to help Home checks and vet references will be required for adopters. Chow experience preferred but not required. We have additional pictures and several videos for those who may be interested to foster or adopt. These and additional pictures and updates will be found on his facebook post at: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10167902031643125&id=783968124&mibextid=wwXIfr Note: to view contents of link you will need to copy and paste it into your browser.
