Found as a stray, the shelter says, 'Diedrich has been with us since the end of September, 2025. He would benefit from an adopter/rescue that is very familiar with the breed as Chow Chows are known to be independent, aloof, and take time to warm up to new people. In the shelter, Diedrich has been apprehensive to approach people (stiff body posture, growls, and gives whale-eye). He is available for immediate adoption or rescue pull.' Diedrich has since had a third behavior evaluation on 10/8 and the shelter let us know, 'the most recent behavior review does show significant improvement in behavior with no instances of growling or retreating to back of kennel on approach. A749964 still presents himself slightly aloof with interactions from handlers, but accepts attention and is displaying a more curious behavior with general interest to interact with staff/volunteers.'
