About Perry

Meet Perry !! This super tiny little guy found himself at the shelter. He came to us with kennel cough and so smelly. He is recovering well and has a very fun and spunky little personality. No one has told him he isn't even as big as a guinea pig lol. Perry is an approx. 4 year old male Yorkie. He weighs 4.5 pounds. He came to us very skinny and needs to gain .5 to 1 pound more to be at his healthy weight. He will be neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines as part of his adoption. He is thankfully heartworm negative and on monthly preventions. He had a few minor mats that we cut out if his hair. Due to having kennel cough we couldn't take him to a groomer. We trimmed him up best we could. He was excellent about getting a bath and letting us cut the hair away from his eyes. He was even good about his nails although he only sits still for a few at a time. He comes right inside when you call him. Very easy boy to handle. This guy is a fun and active little guy. Despite being tiny he really isn't afraid of anything. He will run around with the big dogs as if he isn't smaller than their heads. He hasn't met any cats yet but most cats are double his size so we think he would do fine with any cat willing to tell him they are the boss. He is great with kids but he is super tiny. He really could be easily hurt by kids that are to active or not old enough to know not to squeeze him etc. Perry isn't really familiar with the leash but is too small to pull you anywhere. He's great on car rides but can be vocal if he is not on your lap. He is crate trained as far as staying in it. He has been vocal in the crate. Covering the crate is the best way to have him settle but it does not always work. A firm 'no' will quiet him down most times. He has not fully mastered potty training. He is using the puppy pads in the crate but also will try to mark his territory in the home if out. He will need continued work with this in his new home. His upcoming neuter should help with the marking some but the overall potty training needs work. Perry has a medium energy level. He can be a busy little guy at times. He will run around the yard and explore but come back and jump in your lap every few minutes and give kisses. He loves to sit with you but then he is off again to go explore. He has not shown any issues with people or other dogs about sharing his food, treats or toys. He does not overeat and you can leave a bowl of food out for him and he will eat when he wants to. We really adore this little guy. He has a great personality and is just adorable. �'�%BC��%8F��|��%8FHe will need regular grooming. This requires time to get him to and from the appointments and additional expenses to pay for it. On average a dog of this breed will need grooming every 6 weeks.
