About Hoss

Meet Hoss You are going to love Hoss. This boy is absolutely precious. We pulled Hoss from a high kill shelter. He was not going to make it out alive and we were not going to let that happen. He is a wonderful dog that we promise you will fall in love with. It took us all of five seconds to know he is a precious gem. When you know, you know. Hoss is a three-year-old Bulldog (mix?), although he looks pure to us. He is black and white with a stocky frame, a crooked smile, laughing eyes and a happy demeanor. Hoss loves everyone he meets. He wiggles his whole body to pet. He likes other dogs and happily makes his way around to say hello. Hoss is a stocky, short-legged dynamo who struts his stuff. He walks great on a leash. He doesn't need a ton of exercise, just a nice stroll around the neighborhood. He is friendly, sweet, affectionate, and calm. To see him is to smile. Hoss travels well. We'll test Hoss with cats for potential adopters. We can tell that Hoss has been neglected because of his dry skin and irritated ears. With our vet's help and a steady diet of good food, Hoss will have a shiny coat in no time. Despite how uncomfortable he might be, Hoss never gets irritated. Instead, he is full of good cheer. We love this boy to the moon and back. If you love the short, stocky types with a great personality, Hoss is your kind of dog. He will be neutered before going home. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out-of-state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship, nor do we transport them to their new homes. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are either owner relinquished rescued from area Animal Controls or high kill shelters. The facility usually operates at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.
