About Ranger

Adoption Fee: $100
Australian Shepherd
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Ranger is a loyal and protective dog. He has always been one to protect his family. He can have moments of loving and kind but is overall energetic and wants to play. Ranger enjoys to play fetch or tug-of-war. He loves to go on walks and runs but only for short distances. He can be a couch potato if given enough exercise, otherwise he will want to 'herd' you and family around the house. Ranger would thrive in a home as an only pet. He has shown aggression toward other dogs (unknown about farm animals). He is needing a home with older kids (over the age of 10) who understand that he has instincts to herd/have family all in the same area. He is sensitive to noise and needs a home that is quieter. He needs patients when introducing new people but warms up eventually. Preferably a home with a yard, but has been in an apartment and done well as long as he gets regular exercise. Ranger is trained in basic commands and house-trained. He has had formal training but he can be stubborn when training. He knows how to walk on a lease but when beginning a walk he get excited and wants to pull. Once settled down he does well on the lease. He does have anxiety in high stress situations such as the vet, car, or in loud/crowded places. For the anxiety we do give him prescribed medication to ease the anxiety. Ranger is up-to-date on all vaccinations (completed in September), neutered, and microcipped. He does have some anxiety in high stress situations which medication is given to ease the anxiety. No additional medical conditions or special dietary needs. Ranger requires time to get to know a new environment. He can be reactive to noise and quick movements in the home which is why he needs a home that is quieter and not chaotic. Overall he can be a loving and loyal companion.
