Beachcomber 8 Month Old Male Pit Bull Terrier Mix Needs Rescue By 10/04/2025 Beachcomber arrived to the shelter as a stray on 8/10/25 after being found by member of the public at Shoreline Village the previous evening. Beachcomber displayed no negative behavior on intake, would be described as your average friendly receptive puppy, and was placed available for adoption following stray hold retention being met. Shortly after Beachcomber reached 30 days at the shelter increased anxiety in kennel was observed, pacing back-and-forth in kennel & alarm barking at noises as people would approach his kennel. Within a short amount of time Beachcomber's behavior has severely declined in kennel, with additional handling concerns expressed by staff & volunteers attempting to exit him from kennel for exercise/enrichment. Beachcomber will display stiff body posture in kennel with raised hackles, heavy whale eye with dilated pupils, followed by barking/lunging at staff, volunteers, & members of the public that approach his kennel. Beachcomber allows full handling out of kennel with staff & volunteers, displaying no visible signs of aggression/reactivity towards members of the public out of kennel. Beachcomber also participates in regular playgroup(s) with other active dogs housed at the shelter without issues. Due to rapid decline in behavior and increased safety concerns with handling/kennel exits, Beachcomber needs immediate placement through adoption/foster/rescue no later than end of day Saturday October 4th 2025.
