(DOB 09/08/2024) A gentle-hearted hound with a playful spirit and the sweetest soul! Izzy is a calm, affectionate girl who doesn't know a stranger. She's mellow and easygoing, fitting right into the rhythm of a household with ease. Whether she's gently greeting visitors or curling up on a dog bed nearby, Izzy simply loves being around people and other dogs. She's great with kids, and though she hasn't met cats yet, her sweet, friendly demeanor gives us hope she could adjust with proper introductions. If you love hounds, Izzy is going to definitely catch your attention, with her perfectly long, soft, velvety ears, her hound jowls, those forehead wrinkles and the nose that works overtime when she is outside. Oh, and don't let us get started on the hound dog eyes she can full out pull out; you'll melt for certain! You can't help but love all of her facial features!! Izzy would do well as an only dog if you have lots of love and time to give, but she really comes to life with a furry friend to romp and wrestle with! She plays hard with the younger dogs in her foster home, racing around the yard or wrestling until she's completely tuckered out. After that? She's all about relaxing on the couch, a comfy chair, or a soft dog bed in the living room. Izzy is doing well with her mealtime manners but, like many dogs, prefers to eat without interruptions. We feed her in a puzzle/slow feeder to help her pace herself, and she's made great progress. In her current home, all dogs are fed separately to keep things stress-free, and it works perfectly. Getting into the car isn't her favorite moment, but once inside, Izzy is a dream. She settles right down, either snoozing quietly or resting her head sweetly on the armrest. Whether it's a trip across town or a weekend getaway, she's the kind of co-pilot that makes the ride more peaceful. Izzy is potty and crate trained, although these days she prefers to sleep wherever she feels cozy which is usually a chair, couch, or dog bed in the living room. She's well-mannered indoors and would do great in a variety of home settings: house, condo, apartment, or townhome. A fenced yard is not required, though she does enjoy exploring outside with her nose to the ground-classic hound style! While she's had some experience walking on a leash, Izzy is still learning to feel fully confident. A little time, consistency, and patience will help her become a happy walking buddy. Outdoors, her hound instincts kick in-her nose guides her as she enjoys the endless kaleidoscope of smells the world has to offer. If you're looking for a loyal, gentle companion with a fun side, Izzy just might be your perfect match. She's got a whole lot of love to give, and she's hoping for a family who sees just how special she really is. She's ready to meet you! As part of Izzy's $300 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.
