About Starlen

Meet Starlen !! This little guy is such a love bug. He adores people and is the Velcro lap dog many people are looking for. Starlen is an approx. 2 year old male Chihuahua mix. He weighs 10 pounds and is full grown. He will be neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines as part of his adoption. He is thankfully heartworm negative and on monthly preventions. He is doing pretty good with his training so far. He has been good about his potty training. He's done well on car rides and does not get sick. He does well with leash walking. He is crate trained in the aspect that he does not potty in it or try to break out. He has been very vocal in the crate. He seems to have some separation anxiety about being away from his people. This sweet boy seems like life hasn't been to kind to him in the past. He is afraid of things and runs to you for protection. He is also very afraid of other dogs at first. He has done well with another dog that left him alone but he runs, growls and hides if any dog runs up to him or gets to close. He took two days to decide the Foster's golden retriever was safe but now they are buddies. Definitely needs a doggie friend that's not overbearing and gives him time. He would probably do best with calmer dogs that are not the in your face type. He seems to adapt to other dogs with enough time to see that they are not going to hurt him. He has not met any cats so we are unsure how he would do. We think he would do well with kids that are old enough to give him space and not treat him like a toy. He really loves people. Starlen has a pretty low energy level so far. He is happy to go out and sniff around the yard or go on a walk but he really just wants to be held or sit in your lap. As soon as you pick him up he just melts into you for all the loving. He has not shown any issues with people about sharing his food, treats or toys. He is so afraid of the other dogs right now we are not sure if he would share with them or not once he is comfortable. Overall he is a very sweet boy that just wants a place to feel safe.
