Courtesy Posting: X URGENT at PHOENIX, AZ- ID #A5151899 - MARICOPA COUNTY ANIMAL CARE (WEST VALLEY) - ADORABLE, PETITE YOUNG 2 YR, 40 lb FEMALE CHOW 'CUBBY'- ADOPTABLE, BUT MAY NEED RESCUE AND THUS ALSO A FOSTER TO SAVE HER LIFE! SHELTER IS FULL and puts many chow and chow mixes on their euth list suddenly. Please help us find a good home or foster and rescue for this adorable, little young girl who was found as stray with a similar looking friend (possibly her sibling) who also needs a good home or foster and rescue. A finder saw both dogs running in the street and were able to lure them to their home overnight. The finder reported both dogs allowed petting and handling and appeared to be very friendly towards one another. They were brought to the Maricopa shelter in hopes of being reunited with their owner, but no one sadly showed up. Both dogs are kenneled together and are adoptable, either separately or together. This girl has been fondly named 'Cubby' due to looking like a lion cub coloring, and her friend has a darker red coat and has been named 'Ginger Spice'. We have a separate post up for her as well. At only 40 lbs, Cubby is perfectly sized, along with her friend, and both are estimated to be only 2 years old. Additionally, the dogs have wonderful behavior notes at the shelter, and Cubby is noted as: '09/30/2025 No issue separating from kennel mate. Dog approached handler at front of kennel with wagging tail, soft body, accepted treats gently through gate. Jumped on kennel door with wagging tail as leash was presented, allowed for easy leashing. Walked with easy leash pull to play yard, sniffed some kennels but no reactivity observed. Easy to direct to play yard. In yard dog had soft body exploring, would have wagging tail when called over, accepted pets if near handler. Would go potty, explore yard some more, and solicit attentions with handlers with soft body. Sweet dog. No issue retrieving leash. Walked back to kennel with easy leash pull. Walked right into kennel on own. No issue retrieving leash through long hair by hand.' A full copy of both behavior and medical notes can be found here: https://apps.pets.maricopa.gov/adoptPets/Home/Details/A5151899 (Cubby) https://apps.pets.maricopa.gov/adoptPets/Home/Details/A5151895 (Ginger Spice) If you may be interested in adopting one or both, please contact the shelter immediately and directly at (602) 506-7387, ask for her/them by ID.
