About Peanut

Lab mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Peanut is a yellow lab mix, about 1-%BD years-old, and weighs 65 pounds. He has spent almost his entire life in a very structured shelter environment. He is a special boy, who is well-loved by shelter staff and volunteers. He is extremely loyal and has developed a relationship with those who spend the most time with him. He will be a very loyal companion to his forever family. Peanut is an athletic dog who can keep up with even the most active individuals, but he is also 'King of the Nap'! He would make a fabulous running or hiking partner or a phenomenal agility dog! Peanut received professional obedience training and he is well-trained for commands (sit, down, heel, wait, stay, place, quiet, heel and loose leash walking). Off leash is not an option at this time, but long-line recall has been excellent in practice. PEANUT'S IDEAL FAMILY will be experienced large-dog owners who: Wants a really Good Boy and are willing to spend a little extra time to ensure he is successful in his new environment! Have no young children or small pets; Older children and dogs may be fine, but there would have to be a meet and greet. Are willing to meet Peanut at the rescue and spend time with him over multiple visits to get to know him/ walk him/ learn his training protocols (the shelter is very flexible and will be able to meet your schedule) Are willing to continue reinforcing the training he has received (Peanut's adoption includes a 1 hour training lesson by his training facility that may occur in your home or at their facility as soon as possible after his adoption. (If needed, more sessions may be possible.) Are willing to give him time to decompress upon moving into their home; he will need to have a designated area to settle into (such as a kitchen or a spare room) for his first experiences inside a home. Free-range of the home will overwhelm him, but a small area that gradually expands will set him up for success! Peanut should NOT be crated. Are willing to practice his commands daily and provide him with boundaries and expectations as he learns how to live inside a home. (Remember, most of his life has been in a shelter and he has never had to make his own choices!) Are willing to give him all the love he deserves, but are willing to be his pack leader with rules to follow to ensure he becomes the best dog he can be! Have a fenced in yard for him to run free, the larger the better! With your love and patience, and giving Peanut time to get to know you and a new environment, you'll wonder what you ever did without him! To meet Peanut, Email [email protected] and [email protected] of Live and Let Live Farm's Rescue & Sanctuary in NH. Tell them Animal Rescue Konnection (ARK) sent you!
