About Aslan

URGENT!!! [Case REopened on 9/30/25]. MEDINA, OHIO (will drive up to 3 hrs) . 8 Y/O MALE GSD. His name is 'ASLAN'. Background: has been with the same Shepherd Parent since weaned. UTD on shots WITH record. NOT Fixed. Good with kids 8 y/o +. NOT Good with dogs, REACTIVE. NOT Good with cats. House trained. NOT Crate trained, has never been crated. Is trained to Free Roam the house and has very good behavior when left alone. Has never been destructive and does NOT have Separation Anxiety. SEASONAL ALLERGIES (Requires bi monthly injections of Cytopoint + coconut oil on his nose bc it gets too dry and cracks). HIGH PREY DRIVE . Currently on Blue Buffalo Wilderness Rocky Mountain High Protein Wholesome Grains Red Meat Adult Dry food. Weighs 95 lbs. NOT Good with car rides, anxious and whines. Will calm down with music (80s rock). Loves: his family - running - playing with older kids - bully sticks - balls - digging up rocks - being chased while playing- toys - treats- going on walks - sticks - being near his person - attention - back scratches - pleasing his people - Play Time - hide and seek with his treats - chilling on the couch - sitting outside by his person. Personality: Protective but very lovable to his people. Aslan is a great boy. He can be intimidating, but he is very good at meeting new people, just nervous. He will be your best friend if you have his treats in your hand. He is treat and toy motivated. He is ok on a leash, may pull. Good Recall. EXTREMELY intelligent and knows Basic Commands PLUS Hand Signals. He plays Hide and Seek with his treats and understands 'find it' to go look for them. The Current Shepherd Parent moved out of the country due to a divorce and was not able to take Aslan. The Current Shepherd Parent's (ex) wife stepped up when Alan was previously processed through my Rehoming Service and now has Aslan, but she cannot handle Aslan's strength, so is now back on schedule. He is very Reactive when he sees another dog and she cannot restrain him, and he literally took her down and dragged her. She is realizing that this is not a safe situation. Aslan will thrive best in a great loving home who can continue his medical needs. He needs his Allergy Injections EVERY month in the summer and then can go every TWO months the rest of the year. The injections are about $230 (this may vary depending on vets, hopefully can find for cheaper). You can also speak to your vet and try to get him on Apoquel and see if that helps him instead of the Injections. Apoquel is only about $60 a month and works wonders. The red eyes go away about two days after his Injection. We need to try to stick to his normal routine as much as possible and make sure NOT to crate Aslan. He has Good Behavior and has NEVER been crated. Aslan will thrive best in a loving home with someone that will respect this and allow him to Free Roam, and not crate him, and who can continue his medical needs. Someone kind, loving and understanding to help him grieve the only family that he has ever known and give him time to adjust to his new life with you. Preferably someone who is home a lot, with fenced in property, and can handle his strength. Comes with: collar, leash, food, treats.
