About Sammy

Sammy is a one-year-old Poodle mix who came to us from our friends at the Iowa City Animal Shelter. At just 12 pounds, he's the perfect size for lap snuggles-but don't let that fool you, he's also got plenty of playful energy! Sammy loves wrestling with other dogs, tossing around toys, going for walks, and being the best little co-pilot in the car. When Sammy first came into foster care, we noticed he just couldn't settle-he was always on the move. Not anxious, just go-go-go all the time. With the help of a low-cost medication (Fluoxetine, about $4 a month), Sammy has learned how to slow down, soak up attention from his people, and enjoy cuddle time. After just 30 days, he truly blossomed into a different dog. Sammy is house-trained, kennel-trained, and has a sweet, loving personality that shines brighter every day. He's looking for a family who will enjoy his playful side, appreciate his snuggly side, and give him all the love he deserves. Sammy is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped.
