About Reggie

Reggie is a 1-year-old French Bulldog who is as small as he is mighty - weighing in at under 20 lbs! Don't let his size fool you, he's full of personality and charm. Reggie is wonderful with dogs, cats, and kids, making him the kind of pup who fits right into just about any household. He's potty trained, crate trained, neutered, and up to date on vaccines - ready to move right in with his forever family. Reggie does have a medical condition called megaesophagus (MegaE). While the name sounds intimidating, it's very manageable once you know his routine. MegaE means his esophagus doesn't move food down as efficiently as it should. To help, Reggie eats small meatball-style meals in a special upright chair (called a Bailey chair). After mealtime, he relaxes there for about 30 minutes to let gravity do the work. He doesn't mind at all - in fact, it's become his special 'throne time.' Reggie eats three times a day and takes two simple medications: Omeprazole (over-the-counter, helps with digestion) Viagra (yes, really - but in dogs, it relaxes the esophageal sphincter and helps food pass more easily). His care routine may sound different, but once you've seen it, you'll realize it's not complicated. Reggie is happy, playful, and thriving with this setup.
