About Powder

Meet Powder! (formerly known as Free Willie) Powder is a 1.5-year-old, 60-pound sweetheart who has it all-goofy, affectionate, social, and smart as can be. While we can't confirm his exact breed without a DNA test, he appears to be a bully mix, but please don't let that label fool you. Powder is a total lovebug who breaks every stereotype with his gentle nature and snuggly personality. Powder's journey began when he was found as a stray in Texas in March 2025. He was fortunate to land a spot in a twelve-week training program at Starmark Academy, where he learned an impressive variety of skills. After graduating, he faced the risk of returning to an overcrowded shelter where his life could have been in danger. Thankfully, one of his trainers stepped up and fostered him, giving him the chance to continue learning and growing in a home environment. He has been thriving ever since and is now living in Montana while he waits patiently for his forever family. During training, Powder mastered sit, down, place, come, paw, spin, turn, touch, retrieve, heel, and even agility skills like tunnel, jump, and hoop. He is crate trained, although he is still working on being comfortable for longer periods of time, and he has wonderful door and leash manners. His foster has kept up with his training, and he continues to impress with how quickly he learns. Life at home with Powder is just as special as his training r��sum��. At first he was tempted to chew on household things, but now he only chews on his toys. He loves to cuddle on the couch, pressing his head against his foster for affection, and has a soft, silly personality that makes him a joy to be around. He has done well with dogs of all sizes, showing appropriate play manners and a love for canine friends. He has also met preteens and younger children and wagged his tail happily when they were nearby, showing just how much he enjoys people. He hasn't been tested with cats, but he seems to approach every new experience with curiosity and a gentle spirit. Powder has a nice balance of energy. He enjoys toys-especially sturdy ones since he can be a strong chewer-and loves adventures like trips to the river, but he is just as content to curl up for snuggles at the end of the day. He never jumps up on people, behaves politely in social settings, and has shown himself to be a well-rounded companion. The ideal home for Powder would be one with a yard where he can play and explore, and another dog would be a bonus since he loves to have a playmate. He could also do well in an apartment or condo as long as his new family is active and committed to giving him plenty of exercise and stimulation. Above all, Powder is looking for people who will cherish his affectionate side, appreciate his training, and continue to nurture him as he grows into the wonderful dog he is meant to be. Powder is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm negative, dewormed, and on monthly preventatives. He is healthy, happy, and ready to begin the next chapter of his life with a forever family. Since he is currently in Montana, meet and greets are available with an approved application.
