Buddy IS OUT OF TIME!! Need a HERO NOW! There is a rescue that wants to help but they need a foster or adopter TO BE EUTHANIZED 9/28/25 IN NYC A Volunteer writes: 'Buddy 12 is no age to find yourself in a shelter. Buddy should in a home, on an orthopedic bed, being cherished and loved on in his golden years. And it seems he had a loving home for the last several years, until financial hardship and a difficult no pet policy took it all away from him. I saw Buddy this past weekend, enjoying the rare space of a double kennel run. I paused to watch him napping on his sunny bed peacefully. He caught me and came over to say hi, wagging his tail the whole way over. I gave him all my extra treats, but Buddy deserves more than a few walks a day and stray treats from my pouch. He deserves everything. As our kennels begin to fill back up, the extra space he had has already been taken up by another dog in need. He's 77lbs, his ID is #207855, and he is waiting at Queens ACC.' THE VOLUNTEERS MADE BUDDY THIS VERY SWEET REEL. PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT WHAT A GOOD BOY HE IS. https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1EU29Z9ZZ8/ Meet Buddy! This absolutely amazing, sweet 12 year young senior hopes you will give him his dream retirement home. Level 2 behavior rated!!!! Surrendered after 2 years with his caretaker, Buddy came to us when his person could no longer provide for his needs due to financial hardship and housing restrictions. His story is one of loyalty and resilience - he was originally left in her care by a friend who never returned and she did everything she could to keep him safe and fed, even amid eviction threats. Now 12 years young, Buddy is looking for a soft place to land for his golden years. My Ideal Home Buddy would do best with a patient, adult household that understands the needs of a senior dog. He enjoys peace and quiet, familiar routines, and the occasional peanut butter treat. A home with gentle structure, soft bedding and a human who respects his boundaries would be perfect. Good with Kids? Buddy should go to a home without young children (under age 13) as he prefers interactions on his own terms and needs a calm, understanding environment. Good with other pets? In his previous home, Buddy was tolerant of familiar dogs but preferred slow introductions. He recently met a female dog here at the shelter and politely sniffed before walking away - he's not looking for a playmate, but might do well with another mellow companion. He has no experience with cats. Leash Manners While Buddy can be strong on leash and is sometimes reactive to moving objects (barking or growling), he is manageable with experienced handlers. He benefits from calm, structured walks and might enjoy short strolls in quieter neighborhoods. Behavior determination: Level 2 Buddy is a sweet, older gentleman who has done well in our care center. He leans into pets, seeks out affection, and knows many cues like 'sit,' 'go to your bed,' and even 'give me a hug!' He is crate trained and housetrained, though may need reminders in a new space. His known challenges include mild resource guarding, leash reactivity and general anxiety - but with the right person, we believe Buddy would thrive. FUN FACTS! Favorite food: Purina with rotisserie chicken and eggs Favorite treat: Peanut butter! Enjoys lounging in the living room and quiet companionship. Knows multiple commands and loves praise from his humans.
