WE ARE LOOKING FOR A FOSTER HOME, FOSTER-TO-ADOPT OR A LOVING FOREVER HOME! Maxine is a stunningly beautiful 34 lb, spayed female Husky/ American Eskimo Spitz looking mix who was rescued from a high kill shelter in S Cal earlier this year. She was found with a broken leg at the time and placed on the euthanasia list. Thanks to 'Saving Gizmo's Friends', a 501c3 rescue, and a generous donor; Maxine had orthopedic surgery to repair several fractures and is now fully healed and ready for the loving home she so deserves. She is also in need of a foster in the interim. Maxine was initially in a medical foster home until she recovered from her surgery and then went to another foster who had several dogs. These fosters reported: 'she is much on the calmer side. She can be a little shy the first few minutes, but then she starts seeking out attention when she realizes she's safe. She's very loving. Additionally, she can be a little bit unpredictable with other dogs (if she is not slowly/ properly introduced). She doesn't like when dogs get overly excited either so let's say I walk into the barn and the other dogs start barking and getting excited to see me she will try and correct them. It's just too much stimulation for her to be in a pack.' However, Maxine is currently in a boarding kennel (that is closing soon) and she has been really good with other dogs. Maxine has also received training, but is now in boarding awaiting placement in a forever home or foster. While she has interacted fine at times with other dogs there, and is fine in walks together (see photos and videos in this post), she can also at times want to be overly dominant with them and is therefore recommended to a home with no other dogs or in a breed savvy/ experienced home who knows how to introduce and manage dogs. In the case of the latter, if you have another dog we suggest you consider doing a meet and greet with Maxine before adopting her. Maxine can be a devoted companion for the right home.
