His owners got him from someone who was giving him away in a parking lot. Their dogs are outdoor dogs and they didn't realize Ranger was blind when they adopted him, so he is now in a small courtyard area to keep him safe. They feel Ranger would be better off as an indoor dog with people who are around more than they are as he craves attention. His owners write, 'we really don't have the time needed to spend with Ranger which is why I'm trying to find a new owner. He is SO sweet and would be a wonderful dog for someone who could spend more time with him.' Name: Ranger Age: DOB 2/1/2025 Breed: Terrier Mix (20 pounds) Sex: Male (not neutered) Location: Lamar County TX Vet Info: Ranger is not neutered. Per his owners, Ranger is current with vaccines and heartworm negative. His owners also tell us Ranger is completely blind, and that their vet believes he was born blind. Dog Info: We're told Ranger is a friendly fellow and good with people of all ages, but is not housebroken or leash trained. He is not possessive of toys, treats, or food and has never shown aggression. He's even friends with their rabbit! His owners also tell us Ranger is good with other dogs and write, 'Ranger is good with other dogs. We have a 12-year-old female German shepherd mix that Ranger is around a lot of the time in our courtyard. Ranger is still very much a puppy and has a bit too much energy for her. We do have a younger female mutt (3 years old) that Ranger also plays with occasionally named Cookie. We don't have any male dogs. Ranger is not aggressive and has a very good disposition with children. He's very attention starved and just wants love and when you pet him, he immediately lays down and rolls on his back for a belly rub. He eventually settles down, though.' His owners feel he adapts well to new situations despite his blindness 'because he is so friendly and loving.' His owners also write: 'Ranger is still very much a puppy and needs toys to chew. He absolutely loves any type of affection. We took him in a couple of months ago because he had ran into something and it poked his eye, which was extremely swollen. He is recovered but we are concerned about re-injury. The vet says that he needs a cone or goggles to protect his eyes when he is learning a new environment until he is familiar where objects are. He won't keep the goggles on :)' Ranger is hoping for his second chance! **Owner Surrender Disclaimer: These are blind and visually impaired dogs who are living in homes, but their owners can no longer keep them.
