Hi, my name is Nigel and I live in Ashton, MD (near DC). I'm a wonderful, playful, loyal, 6 year old Old English Sheepdog and have been with my family since I was one year old. I love being somebody's person, staying by their side (no matter where they may go!), getting snuggled, going for walks, and playing fetch with soccer balls. I'm used to living in a home with someone that works from home, and getting two ~20-30 minute walks per day. I behave great on a leash. I'm really well house-trained, and while it's true I may pick up an occasional shoe, I never chew or damage it S I'm up to date on all my shots, micro-chipped, behave with groomers, am very healthy (got an A+ at my August vet appointment), and will even let you brush my teeth! I'm coming from a loving home with 3 cats, a Beagle, and two kids under 10. While I would do OK in a home with another animal, if I'm honest I'd probably rather the full attention of my parent - I can't get enough love! I'm normally gentle, but I do struggle with anxiety, have a lot of energy around kids or pools, and definitely like to herd. I have definite 'Fear of Missing Out' (FOMO) so, if you keep me in or out while you're having a good time & I can see you, you're going to hear about it! It's true I can be possessive of my toys and especially food so it's not always safe to have me around a dinner table or to take something from me - pick up food that drops at your own risk around me! I can be stubborn and don't like to leave my people, so getting pulled in a direction away from them should be done carefully, and never by my collar. I'll growl, bark and may snap at you. Still, I always growl to give fair warning, and I've never been mean-spirited. I would be a WONDERFUL addition to a relaxing home with no kids and experienced pet owners. I'm a great protector at night and while I like to sprint out into our backyard to chase planes & birds, I don't need too much space - I get most of my exercise and wiggles out on walks. If you think I'm cute, I'm even cuter in person. My parents love me to death and hate re-homing me. Unfortunately I'm just not the right home for kids & chaos. My anxiety, food drive, and protective-nature can get the best of me. Still, my family feels this is more about their hectic environment, and less about me.
