About Bruce

Bruce is 3yo big gorgeous 90lb specimen,75% Belgian,25% German. He is very loving and affectionate. He will require daily physical activity and mental stimulation. Breed awareness and dog handling experience are also necessary. Bruce is delightfully playful and active. He is smart, protective and loyal. He is leash, house and crate trained. He is healthy, vaccinated and neutered. Bruce has been loved and well cared for his whole life, and it is heartbreaking to have to part ways with him, but life circumstances make it unavoidable. He will steal your heart with exceptional eye contact and facial expressions. He eagerly plays with our other dogs with no toy aggression or aggression period, but he's big and plays physical. He has had limited experience with small kids, but has had no issues. Supervision is strongly recommended, Again mainy because of his size and activity level. He has a high prey drive, and will chase cats, squirrels and chickens. Farm animals probably would not mix well. He is protective, and has a convincing big-boy bark for any strangers, but warms up to guest with guided introductions. He does well left alone for reasonable periods of time inside or fenced outside. He loves to patrol a fenced yard. He is very curious, and will familiarize himself with every inch of your property inside and out. Inside he is a well behaved dog, house broken and crate trained. His crate is left open for him except maybe for an occasional short time out. He becomes anxious with thunder and firecrackers, so we close him in his crate where he feels safe and calm. He doesn't chew on shoes or anything. Bruce thrives on human engagement, toys and belly rubs. He is a well behaved dog, and is generally eager to please. He is also confident and strong-willed, and responds best to calm, confident correction. Naturally cautious, which is consistent with his breed, you must earn his trust, and your place in the pecking order. Extremely intuitive, he responds to hand signals, body language and facial expressions. Bruce has had no formal training, and he is still learning and maturing, but he generally does quite well with a large vocabulary of commands including sit, stay, down, no, up, not yours, this way, back, load up, heel, whoa, leave it, find it, catch it, chow, snack, wait, kitchen, porch and more. In summary, Bruce is a big wonderful dog, but please do not underestimate the importance of breed awareness. They are very active, not a dog to blend into the background. Bruce is very social, and would love to spend his days with his best buddy. It is our intention to find the best match for Bruce and his new family.
