About Peach

Adoption Fee: $200
Chihuahua mix
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

Peach is a 9-year-old female Chihuahua mix whom I adopted from Family Dog Rescue in 2021 when she was estimated to be 5 years old. She is an incredibly loving, cuddly, and sweet companion who is beloved by everyone who knows her. ### Temperament Peach loves people and is wonderful with gentle children. She thrives on attention and absolutely loves getting belly rubs from visitors. She has good energy for her age-she can walk for 45 minutes and still chases squirrels enthusiastically-though she's not particularly playful with toys. ### Social behavior She gets along well with dogs of all sizes, especially males, as long as they approach her gently and don't make her feel threatened. She can be a bit reactive to dogs that approach too quickly on the street, but she's actually quite playful with calm dogs like our neighbor's elderly golden retriever. ### Training & behavior I invested significantly in professional training to help with her separation anxiety, and she has made excellent progress. She can now stay home alone during a full workday, though I know it's not ideal for her. She previously enjoyed coming to my pet-friendly office three times a week, where she was the center of attention, but my workplace moved to a non-pet-friendly building about a year ago. ### House training Peach has excellent bladder control and has never had an accident indoors unless she has an upset stomach. In my previous apartment, she had access to a backyard and loved sunbathing whenever weather permitted. ### Health She's generally healthy and may show minor signs of arthritis, but this hasn't progressed as long as she maintains a clean diet. Her main health concern is dental care-she needs professional teeth cleaning and possibly extractions, but she won't allow anyone to examine her teeth without sedation. I've been managing this with dental enzymes as recommended by a veterinarian, which has helped significantly with plaque buildup. ### Reason for rehoming Due to an accumulation of personal circumstances, I need to find a loving new home for my dog, Peach. This has been an incredibly difficult decision, and I want to ensure she finds the best possible family who can give her the attention and care she deserves.
