About Pookie has till 10/10

This 2 yr old girly with the cutest speckled ears is Pookie & she is in need of her person right away! Kennel life is stressful for this sweet, connected girl and she needs to leave cage life behind for a loving home ASAP! Please Share! DM US if you can foster- RESCUE INTEREST! Or Visit to Adopt! Pookie came into North Central on 08/23 after she was found roaming off of Alameda Street. She was placed on a 'stray' hold, without anyone ever coming to claim her. Understandably, she was very nervous at intake. She did not want to be handled for a vet exam and was prescribed medication to calm her nerves (for 10 days). After a couple playgroup outings with other dogs though, Pookie started to open up! On her 1st walk with a volunteer it was noted 'timid in the kennel, but opened up quickly in the yard! Very gentle and takes treats gently too. When I stopped petting her, she came in for more pets.' She is sensitive young girl who is just overwhelmed in this noisy, stressful place! Pookie has continued to do well in playgroups with other dogs- 'gentle/dainty, playful, and gives appropriate corrections.' She has become a favorite of volunteers who have gotten to know her! But sadly, Pookie still showing signs of stress in her kennel & at times climbing the bars. Due to this, she is now ALERTED and must be adopted or rescued by Friday 10/10 EOD or she will be euthanized the following morning. We cannot allow a heartbreaking ending for our sweet friend!
