About Marlee

Adoption Fee: $25
Great Pyrenees / German Shepherd
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Before I took ownership of her, Marlee grew up together with her 2 sisters as outdoor only dogs in a small, confined yard with nothing but the bare minimum of food and water available to her. As a result of this upbringing, she ended up being a very sensitive and shy puppy who was afraid of her own shadow, sometimes literally. While she still carries this trauma with her even today, with patience, love, and attention, she's managed to overcome her fears and become a sweet bundle of joy that can't hardly contain her love for those she cares about. While she's very shy at first, once she lets you into her heart she will be one of the most loving and silly pups you'll ever meet. %BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%A0 Once comfortable, she likes to be very physical with her affections, constantly pawing and even jumping to get your love and attention. As stated earlier, she sometimes doesn't know how to handle the emotions she feels, so she can be somewhat eratic and clumsy in her interactions. She isn't always paws-on though, as she can be a bit independent, generally preferring the outdoors over staying inside. She also still carries some of that deep-seated fear in her as she can be quite sensitive to loud noises, fast movements, and unknown objects, often cowering from or fearfully barking at whatever spikes her anxiety. She's also quite scared of confined spaces, having a bit of trouble with narrow passageways and entrances/exits, but can grow accustomed to them with time. She's doesn't do well with storms, but is okay with light rain. While she can appear standoffish or skittish, that's just a defense she developed against the fear and uncertainty from her upbringing. %BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%A0 Marlee can be fairly active, but she also doesn't require much activity. While she does love playing, she's also very content to just lounge about and take things at her own pace. She's still figuring out how to play with people, but she is very experienced with the horseplay of young puppies. While new places can be quite overwhelming for her, she loves taking walks through familiar areas. She also loves fetching balls, though she's still figuring out what to do when she reaches the thrown object. She loves to put her paws on things, sometimes wrestling or tackling the dogs she's playing with. She likes to chase other dogs, but she isn't averse to being chased herself (except by humans). She also really loves mud if/when its available to be rolled/played in. Particularly when playing with people, care should be taken to not overwhelm her, as she can sometimes get startled into shutting down and running away. You should move slowly, with careful reassurance to ensure she stays happy and willing to play. %BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%A0 Marlee is fairly intelligent, picking up on tasks/tricks with a bit of persistence. She is house trained and knows how to use a doggy door to access the outdoors independently, though sometimes she'll ask to be let inside with a few barks instead. In terms of basic commands, she's learned how to sit and lay down, but is still working on some of the more complicated ones. When training, care should be taken to keep from overwhelming her as she can become very unresponsive, shaking and cowering from becoming too stimulated, only recovering after some time resting alone. %BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%A0 Marlee is fully vaccinated and seems to be in perfect puppy health. She is kept tick, flea, and heartworm free with both bravecto and interceptor. While she can get dirty very quickly with her love for mud, she actually doesn't need too many baths, often having her beautiful coat return to its normal white softness after a few days. She also seems to be fairly self-regulating in terms of diet, often leaving some kibble left in the bowl. %BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%A0 Marlee is a sensitive and loving angel looking to find a home she can call her own.
