About Mele

Adoption Fee: $400
Shetland Sheepdog / Collie
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Mele is searching for her furever home in Orange County! She is 1 year old, spayed, microchipped, and up to date on her vaccines. We will start with this: Mele is a super special girl with the most incredible spirit. Someone is going to hit the jackpot when they adopt her! So far, Mele appears to be housebroken in her foster home. She is doing amazing with the dogs in her foster home after having a slow integration with them to ensure she didn't get overwhelmed, and it's reported that she's respectful of cats! Fetch is one of her favorite pastimes, she seems to love everyone she meets, and she's good in the car. She truly loves life and is a high-energy gal who wants to go on as many adventures as possible in her furever home. This sweet pup joined our rescue after being rescued by Maui Humane Society. When she arrived at their facility, she was practically lifeless. Their team worked tirelessly to get her save her, getting her healthy enough to make the journey to California where she can find the awesome family she deserves. Mele is still recovering physically from the hell she endured, but she has the most beautiful spirit and is truly a once in a lifetime dog. Her fur is continuing to grow in, and we know she will be just as stunning on the outside as she is on the inside once her healing process is complete. Mele will need some help with basic obedience and would do best in a home that can be patient with her training because she is headshy. She's been ok in her crate for a couple hours at a time and is sleeping in a crate at night. She is pretty good on a leash once her excitement level of being able to go for a walk subsides. She does like to jump on people to give hugs and kisses, which is something her fosters are working on (and she will likely need continued help with this in a furever home). She has shown some resource guarding when it comes to her crate, so she would either do well in a home where she can be the star OR in a home with a dog-savvy owner who can ensure she feels safe enough to not have to defend her space from other pups. We cannot stress enough how amazing this pup is. If you are interested in making Mele part of your family, please fill out an adoption application on our website!
