About Shep

Meet Shep - The Handsome Carolina Dog with a Big Heart! Shep is a 10-month-old Carolina Dog mix who's as smart as he is sweet! He weighs about 36 lbs and won't get much bigger - the perfect medium size for adventures and cuddles alike. This boy has come such a long way. Shep was rescued from a cruelty case and brought to the county shelter, where he struggled with the noisy environment. Thankfully, he got a second chance with a foster family - and he's been thriving ever since! Neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccines, Heartworm negative & protected with Simparica Trio. House and crate trained Good with dogs, cats and chickens Shep enjoys a calm, predictable environment and prefers slow introductions to new people and dogs. Once he trusts you, he's incredibly affectionate - he loves to cuddle and will happily be your shadow. He's still a puppy at heart and loves to play, chew on toys, and explore. He's great in the car and enjoys hikes! He's learning to stay calm around new dogs (a quick 'leave it' reminder helps), and his recall is a work in progress - he's usually off-leash 90% of the time but would benefit from continued training or an e-collar setup at home. Shep has a bit of a stubborn streak and isn't afraid to 'speak his mind' if he's unhappy - it's part of his charm! He just needs someone patient who understands that this smart boy has opinions.
