Please note that because all our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be within a reasonable distance from Kennett Square, Pennsylvania for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in-person home visit. Meet Penny!�%A0Penny is a 12-year-old Havanese/Chihuahua mix who weighs just 7 lbs. She may be small, but her journey has already shown us how brave and resilient she is. Penny came to us after living as a stray and being picked up by the local shelter. We knew right away she deserved a second chance at the safe, loving life she's always deserved. Penny is still learning what it means to be loved and cared for. She's very shy at first, but once she feels secure, her gentle and sweet personality begins to shine. She enjoys her independence and is perfectly content to curl up in her bed for naps. She isn't the type to demand constant attention or cuddle in your lap just yet, but she doesn't mind being picked up or getting soft, quiet affection in small doses. With time, patience, and kindness, we believe Penny will continue to blossom. Penny does great with other dogs and would be happy sharing her home with canine companions. She is also comfortable around respectful children who understand her need for space and gentle handling. Because we don't know much about her past, Penny will need a calm, understanding home that allows her to build confidence at her own pace. She would be a wonderful match for someone looking for a quieter, low-maintenance companion who will bring joy in her own subtle, sweet ways.
