About Callie

Hi, I'm Callie. I'm a 3 year old, 60-pound sweetie with a gentle heart. Life's been a little bumpy for me, but I'm ready for a fresh start-with someone who understands me and wants to help me keep growing. I came to the rescue from a local shelter. They thought my old family might come back for me, but they never did. I spent a lot of time waiting and feeling scared. The shelter was loud and overwhelming, and I just kind of shut down. Things got so bad that I was at risk of being put down-not because I was dangerous, just because I was so afraid. Thankfully, the rescue saw something in me and gave me a chance. Since then, I've been doing so much better. Once I realized I was safe, my true personality started to come through. I love people-really love them. I can be strong and a little clumsy, so I'd do best in a home without small kids, but teens and older children are just fine. I'm still learning how to be around other dogs. I don't really have dog-to-dog social skills, and I get uncomfortable if another dog comes at. Because of this, I'd be happiest as the only pet in the home. No cats or small animals, either. I'm looking for an experienced owner-someone who's patient, kind, and willing to help me keep building confidence and learning new things. I've already come a long way, and I know I can keep going with the right person by my side. The rescue thinks that because I've lived in a home before I'm already good with house training and house manners.
