HERSHEY, a sweet 5 year old, 5.6 pound male, and COCOA, a gentle 4 year old, 5.9 pound female, are an inseparable bonded pair who MUST be adopted together. Their owner passed away and they came to us to find a new family. Both are gradually overcoming their initial shyness, gaining confidence every day and slowly letting their loving personalities shine. Wherever one is, the other is sure to be close by, and together HERSHEY and COCOA form a loving, affectionate duo. These two are true lap dogs. They love human attention and will follow their chosen person wherever they go. They can become anxious when left alone, and they may cry initially, but they quickly settle once they realize their humans will return. (This may be a result of their owner dying and not coming back for them.) HERSHEY and COCOA are house broken, walk beautifully on a leash and enjoy outings, including car rides. Toys aren't much of an interest unless it's just the two of them playing together. Hershey will sometimes initiate play but quickly stops if other dogs get involved. While HERSHEY and COCOA do fine around other small dogs, they can be very nervous at first and tend to be shy with new faces. We do not know how they would be around cats and believe a kid-free home is where they will be most comfortable. HERSHEY and COCOA are picky little eaters who seem to have a fondness for human food, but that's not good for them so they're learning to be on a kibble diet. Like many little dogs, they sometimes shake when they feel nervous and unsure, but they relax as they feel safe and secure. At night, they snuggle under the covers in the bed, always right next to their person. HERSHEY and COCOA will be happiest in a quiet, loving home with humans who have welcoming laps and will allow them to stay cozy under blankets at night. They are affectionate, devoted little companions who will bring warmth, comfort, and endless love to the right home. HERSHEY and COCOA have been to the vet for wellness checkups, are up to date on shots, spayed/neutered, heartworm negative, have had 12 month ProHeart heartworm prevention shots, and are microchipped with lifetime registrations. *A Place of Hope Rescue is a foster-based rescue located in Pensacola, Florida.
