About TALLY

Adoption Fee: $450
Cairn
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

TALLY is a 5-year-old, 15-pound Cairn Terrier who was owner surrendered to find a new home. She's not quite sure about living as a pet yet but with love and encouragement, she will be a wonderful little partner for a lucky person! TALLY is a very sweet, quiet girl who is still a little unsure about the change in her life. She is nervous with new people but happy and the tail is usually wagging. She is friendly and snuggly once she knows you. She enjoys lying next to her foster mom on the couch and prefers to stay close to her foster mom, within sight most of the time. TALLY gets along well with other dogs but doesn't interact much with them. We think her best home will have another calm dog in it but she would probably be fine as an only if she isn't alone a lot. We do not know how she would be with cats or kids. If there are kids in the home they should be older (10+). She hasn't shown interest in toys, though she does enjoy chewing on a chew stick. Her foster believes she just needs time to understand what toys are all about. TALLY is not fully potty trained and is learning the doggie door. She will potty outside if someone stays out with her for a while and does well with positive reinforcement. Indoors, she has used pee pads a few times, though she still has accidents during the day. She has had no accidents at night when sleeping in the big bed with her foster family. Leash training is also new to TALLY. Her foster has not been able to work with her on this yet and it's likely she has never had leash experience. Since we are unsure about her leash training, we are requiring a home with a fenced yard. She has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, spayed, heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. *A Place of Hope Rescue is a foster-based rescue located in Pensacola, Florida.
