About Gemmy

Gemmy is a 3-year-old, 50-pound Australian Shepherd mix who is equal parts loyal shadow and squeaky-toy enthusiast. Her absolute favorite thing in the world is simply being with her people. Whether that means following her foster dad around the yard, hopping in the car for a ride, or curling up at your feet while you cook dinner, Gemmy is happiest when she's close. When she first arrived, Gemmy was in rough shape - matted, uncomfortable, and dealing with painful ear infections. With some TLC, grooming, and vet care, she's blossomed into a joyful, playful, snuggly pup. Now, her beautiful personality shines through! A few of Gemmy's favorite things: �'ۢ Squeaky toys. She squeaks them proudly, then hides them in secret stashes under the bed, couch, or even behind the piano. �'ۢ Chewing on antlers while hanging out on the couch �'ۢ Meeting new people, especially if they bring snacks! �'ۢ Car rides and yard time adventures Gemmy is house and crate trained, and she loves using her crate as a cozy place to relax. At night, she'll split her time between snuggling in bed with her foster family and curling up in her crate. She gets along well with the young male dog in her foster home and tolerates the larger female dog. While she'd love to be the center of attention as an only pup, she'd also do well with calm, easygoing dog friends her own size or smaller. Since arriving, Gemmy has slimmed down and is feeling so much better. Her playful, youthful side is shining now, and she'll need her new family's help to keep her weight on track so she can enjoy her toys, yard time, and adventures to the fullest. Gemmy is looking for a loving, steady home where she can continue to thrive. She'd do best in a calmer environment without too much chaos, and she promises to reward you with endless loyalty, snuggles, and heart-melting joy.
