BDRA is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) charity that accepts no fees when helping individuals or other rescues. 100% of donations go directly to the care of the animals. If you'd like to help us continue our mission, please donate at: https://www.blinddogrescue.org/donate-1. Name: Nellie Age: 6 years Breed: Lab Mix, 60 pounds Sex: Female (spayed) Location: Clarksville, Tennessee Vet Info: Nellie is spayed, has no microchip and is current with vaccinations and HW-. Per vet: Mydriatic pupils OU with difficulty visualizing retina - can see but almost a 'hazy' appearance with no PLR direct/indirect OU. Dog Info: Nellie's owner passed away, and she is now staying with a family member's friend. Family member is not local and can not take Nellie because she has a toddler. Nellie was around another female since she was a puppy but as her vision goes, she gets more fearful by movements. She will get loud and lunge at wherever she thinks the other animal is. She should be an only dog at this point. She should also not be in a household with young children or cats and other small animals. She also is starting to be food reactive because of her fear. She has previously snapped at a cat but the cat was able to get away. She is very nervous in new environments so it will take some time for her to decompress. Nellie is a sweet girl when she is aware that you are there, speaking when approaching will help alleviate her fear. **Owner Surrender Disclaimer: These are blind and visually impaired dogs who are living in homes, but their owners can no longer keep them.
