Meet Poe - A Special Soul Looking for His Person Aussie Rescue of the Mid-Atlantic - ARMA is proud to accept Foster to Adopt applications for Poe! Poe is a striking double merle Australian Shepherd with a heart as big as his beautiful blue eyes. He was picked up as a stray alongside another double merle and ended up in a shelter, where both were scheduled to be euthanized. Thankfully, ARMA couldn't let that happen - they stepped in just in time, giving Poe and his companion the second chance they truly deserved. Now safe in his foster home, Poe is slowly discovering that the world isn't such a scary place. But it's important to understand - Poe is not your average dog. He's deaf and may have limited vision, and it's likely he didn't receive much human interaction or affection early in life. Because of this, he's still learning that people can be kind, that hands bring love, and that he doesn't need to stay guarded. Despite these challenges, Poe is making steady progress. He's showing curiosity, forming bonds, and beginning to trust. He eats well, enjoys quiet time outside, and feels most at ease when he's near the people he's learning to love. He hasn't ventured into public just yet - his 'strolls' are currently limited to the safety of his foster's backyard - but each day he grows a little more confident. Poe is currently living with other dogs in his foster home and would do best with a calm female canine companion. He can get a bit jealous around male dogs, but he's respectful and relaxed with the girls.. His fosters feel he would also be happy as an only dog where he could have his human all to himself.. Poe needs a special kind of home - one that understands his unique needs and is willing to offer him the time, love, and patience he deserves. He may never be the dog who runs up to strangers or plays fetch in a crowded park, but he will be the kind of dog who looks to you for safety, comfort, and connection.
