She didn't come from the best situation, but she's one of those dogs who hasn't let a tough past break her spirit. Sweet, submissive, and eager to connect, Koda is ready for a fresh start in a home that will show her love and structure. She's excellent with other dogs, both male and female, and extremely submissive with dogs and humans alike. Koda is very treat-motivated, making her a great candidate for training - she'll thrive with someone who's willing to put in the time to help her build confidence and polish up her leash skills. Koda loves attention and seeks out affection from people. She melts into you when touched and clearly craves the kind of connection she likely missed out on before. She does have some separation anxiety when her humans leave and will need some help with crate training or would do well with someone who works from home. When it comes to small animals, though, Koda has shown strong prey drive. She's been known to chase cats and did eat chickens in her previous home. While she was scared off by hissy shelter cats during a controlled intro, we recommend a cat-free home for her safety and theirs. Koda is hoping to catch a ride to Wisconsin on 9/6, but she needs a committed foster or adopter lined up before she can board the transport. She can be adopted right off the van - but someone must be waiting to welcome her home.
