About Cora

Adoption Fee: $500
Chow Chow mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Cora is an 8-month-old, 42-pound Chow mix who came from a heartbreaking past. Originally found as a terrified stray in Georgia, she had to be humanely trapped and spent her shelter days completely shut down - quietly staring at the walls, overwhelmed and unsure. If you look at our Facebook page, you can see what we mean in one of her previous videos. Since arriving in Wisconsin, you would not believe she is the same dog as the one shut down in the Georgia Shelter and has been adjusting beautifully to life in a home. She has been in a foster home in WI for a few weeks now, and wow is she a different dog! She LOVES playing with any dog who will play with her- puppies and big dogs alike. She gets along with everyone and does not bother/is respectful with the grumpy old dogs. She will chill after a bit of playing and likes to lay on the couch for naps throughout the day. She has been to several meet and greet events with Mutt Life and did very well with other dogs and meeting new people. Cora is making new strides everyday getting used to humans. She started off being terrified to be touched or pet and now enjoys scratches on her head and is starting to initiate play by nibbling on your arm or feet lol. She also likes to give kisses and get treats. Cora walks okay on a leash and will get better with practice. She is potty trained and quiet in her crate during the day. She sleeps on the couch or in bed with her humans at night and doesn't move until you get up in the morning to let her out. She has not been destructive with anything and is still learning what toys are. It has only been a few weeks and I can only imagine how she will be after a few months- she is turning into such an awesome pup! Cora has come such a long way and we want only the best for her! With that being said, she is not going to be a dog that can ever be off leash and her future adopter will need a fenced in yard for her to play. She would not be a good dog for a tie out. We would also like her to go to a multi dog home- she thrives off of the energy of other dogs and it helps boost her confidence with humans. Cora is a sweet, gentle soul with a rough past. She'll need a patient adopter who can give her the time and space to keep building trust. In return, she'll grow into a truly amazing companion - loyal, loving, and full of quiet strength.
