She's been here for over 6 months and REALLY needs a home - please consider our Shalomie-Nomie-Nom, the cuddle queen to be your new sidekick. Her name since she was a pup is Shalom but she answers to just about anything because she craves attention. Her actual birthday is 3/25/21. She looks like a border collie/rat terrier cross, but that's just an educated guess. She does try to herd the cat, so border collie is probably accurate, but we really don't know what breeds she is. She weighs just under 35 pounds and is fully grown. This girl is, by far, the best-behaved dog we've ever had in our care. Shalom is house-trained and will use potty pads. She knows basic commands and has excellent recall. She's a pleasure to host. She just doesn't like being left alone. I guess that's to be expected after having been dumped twice by the person she was supposed to be able to trust. That said, she doesn't mind it for a few hours as long as Goldie is with her. She made a BFF since she's been here, and the two do wonderfully together. Both girls are available together, or we'd consider a perfect match for either alone. Shalom does get along with other dogs after slow, careful introductions. She's just scared of newcomers. She will try to wedge herself between another pup and her caregiver, though, because she wants all the love. Shalom hasn't had much experience with other animals or people, and since the amputation, newcomers scare her. That wasn't an issue before the surgery, so we think she's just feeling vulnerable because she's missing a leg. Her ideal home would be one where she's somebody's special best friend, and her person doesn't leave her alone much - especially the first month or so after adoption, until she gets used to her new home. Being allowed on the couch to cuddle with her person is an absolute requirement in her forever home. She's way too loving not to have that in her life. Don't let the missing leg fool you - she gets around just as well as the others here and has even mastered stairs. That amputation hasn't slowed her down much - just enough to make our cat happy - but she's been seen sharing a bed with the cat, so she's really no threat. She's fully vetted, HW Neg, and ready to meet someone who can be her forever best friend. Her favorite thing to do is lie next to you on the couch. She's also a great companion for outside chores and would love to hop around following you in the yard while you garden. She's a very affectionate little girl who is guaranteed to love you for the rest of her days.
