About Cockatiel

Coco is a 5 year old male white-faced cockatiel. He was originally owned by my mother but I offered to take him in when she could no longer take care of him. He has since very much bonded to me, but living in a 1-bed/1-bath apartment with a full 40 hour work week has kept me from providing Coco with the attention that he deserves. I wake up an hour early so that I can give him a little bit more time in the morning, and he gets some time with me after work until I need to close him up for the night so he can get enough sleep of his own. He dreads every morning when I have to leave for work and close his cage up, and I can't say that I blame him. I've confirmed with my wifi security camera that he spends his days bored and depressed, and never seems to engage with the toys I cycle in and out of his cage or pay any attention to the different videos I play on the TV when I'm gone. On weekends I try to make up for the time he missed, and he is basically on my shoulder or at my side for the entire 2 days. Coco loves to whistle, and will volley back and forth for as long as you are willing to put up with it. He is trained to step up and is generally a sweetheart, although because he is so familiar with my routine his behaviour can suffer in the morning when he knows I am getting ready to leave for the day. He has only ever lived solo with people and has never been socialized with other birds. He loves fabrics like hand towels or piles of laundry, and will serenade a pair of socks if you hang them in front of him. His favorite place is probably perched on my feet while watching we watch a movie or I'm working at the computer. Coco is my best buddy and I love him, which is why I know he deserves an owner that can give him attention full time.
