About Jett

Adoption Fee: $600
Doberman Pinscher
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Meet Jett! Jett is a Doberman Pinscher. He is approximately 9 months old and weighs 45 pounds. He has the most beautiful brown coat! From Jett's foster mom: He is a sweet boy with super high energy and loves to chase anything and everything - cats, small dogs, balls, a locus, a wasp, etc. I have tons of experience with his breed and can't tell for the life of me if it's truly prey drive or just a deep seated desire to play with someone (anyone). He pounces on the bed where our little dogs lay and runs away really fast (trying to get them to chase him). He is very friendly, but also very very hesitant of new ppl approaching, specially in a group of 2 or more. We've been socializing him with neighbors on walks daily & taking him to my work to be around as many varieties of people as possible. As long as they crouch and let him approach them he's much better. Speaking in high tones also helps to ensure him the encounter is friendly. He has wonderful recall when he isn't distracted but he's mentally an infant so this is brief, but improving. Loves loves loves to steal shoes, socks, undies, etc. He just hasn't figured out what are his toys and what is off limits. He loves toys of all sorts and needs tons of mental stimulation (aside from physical). So far his favorites are Kong toys with peanut butter, his snuffle mat, a stuffed firehose raccoon toy, and a wooden cat toy that is basically a stick with thick jute twine wrapped around it. He LOVES to eat- he eats twice a day with snacks & treats between but will stand on his back legs and counter surf to steal anything in reach. Cheerios with milk in a bowl on the counter has become his specialty for sticking his snout in & inhaling if left unattended even briefly. He really has two speeds - wide awake or asleep He stays in the kennel while we work. He's definitely not a fan of this . He has his favorite toys and comfy bed/blankets with him . My husband lets him out around 11 and again at 2-3 in the afternoon and we are home for the day around 5-6. He has had a couple of pee accidents in the morning soon after we leave inside the kennel and one poo explosion accident in the kennel. He is also working on general potty training. He isn't regular on his poo schedule just yet which is typical for an underweight dog so we just take him out frequently. He doesn't mind being in the kennel when we are feeding our other animals because we are home with him. But he hates being alone at all. So he sleeps for a bit then whines a bit. Then sleeps again & whines again. He's also pounced on the door two different days & let himself out of the kennel. So we adjusted the latch to not pop open. He's just so smart! I wouldn't suggest a home that will need to kennel him for more than a few hours at a time because of the anxiety & pee/poop incontinence at his age He is absolutely the sweetest most precious angel baby Doberman! Anyone who knows this breed and has experienced it will understand all of his silly needs. He's absolute Velcro- he walks close enough in the house to trip a person and step on heels?. Must be touching a human at all times. If he's in a deep sleep & the human leaves the room he's immediately popping up to come with. We think Jett will thrive having another dog in the house to play with. Jett is up to date on shots, heartworm negative, microchipped and neutered. He is ready for his own family! Jett is currently being fostered in TN but will be transported to New England for adoption. The adoption fee is $600 which includes the transport fee and health certificate.
