About Velvet

American Staffordshire Terrier mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Velvet's story began in heartbreak - she was found in a ditch, injured, covered in ants, and unable to get herself out. It was clear she had once known the love of a home, but sadly, no one ever came forward to reclaim her. X-rays revealed a fractured tibia and fibula in her back right leg. While Velvet is healing and getting around surprisingly well, she may eventually need her injured leg amputated. For now, she doesn't let it slow her down much - she can run, play, and go on walks, though she does limp at times. Velvet is a playful, energetic, and affectionate girl who makes the cutest snorty piggy noises when she's excited. She loves chasing toys, takes treats gently, and already knows how to sit on command. When playtime is over, she's just as happy to settle in calmly by your side for endless pets and love. Velvet would thrive best as the only dog in her future home - she gets very focused on other dogs and doesn't enjoy sharing her space with them. But with her humans, she has so much love to give and is ready for a fresh start filled with kindness, patience, and joy. She's currently looking for a rescue or an experienced medical foster to help her heal in peace!
