URGENT!! He is now scheduled to be euthanized on 8/22!!!! Euthanasia Reason -Max is not doing well at the shelter. Max, A2212574, is now showing high levels of FAS (fear anxiety stress) and he is declining in the Shelter environment due to being so scared!!! He needs a hero before he ends up on the euthanasia list!!!!! Urgent Listing Reason: high levels of kennel stress. Videos: https://youtu.be/1gwtRN6BuXs?si=rywlygxg5yxpsqNJ https://youtu.be/C08-GINaZ0w?si=8inpkCErFVZ83oSN Max has a story to tell. Max is 5 years old and after being an outdoor dog for all his life, he was dumped at the shelter because his owner was moving. I am hoping that was a blessing for Max because it doesn't seem that he was well taken care of. Because Max is not adjusting quickly enough to shelter life, because he prefers to keep to himself, because he is frightened, his days are numbered. Because in the shelter, if a dog isn't near perfect, he is a candidate for euthanasia. It's a good thing we don't hold the same qualifications for our society, isn't it? Max came into the shelter with his paws torn up, bloody, and stripped of skin. We don't know if he was purposely abused or terrifically neglected. He doesn't know that people can be kind and caring. Yet, he doesn't react when I touch his paws to examine them. He seems to understand that my attention toward him is different from anything he has experienced before. Max and I started our relationship with a photoshoot, but now it's so much more. He places his paw on me to communicate trust. He wags his tail when he sees me to communicate hope. And now, he rests his head on my lap because he feels peace. Max deserves more than what the last five years have given him. Please step forward for Max before it's too late. Of all the dogs I have photographed in the past year, this one has stolen my heart. MAX is on the URGENT list to exit the Harbor Shelter. Please act NOW to foster or adopt this boy who needs a loving person to let him know love and emerge from his shell. He is located at East Valley Shelter in Van Nuys.
