CRUISE is a sweet-as-can-be 8 year-old 11.4 pound Chihuahua. He joined us from the Escambia County Animal Shelter after his owner passed away in the home. He needed a little time to settle in, but once he felt safe, his loving personality emerged and he is now a perfect lap dog. CRUISE adores attention, snuggles, and being close to his person. He came from a home with many other dogs, and while we don't know his full history, it's likely his previous living conditions weren't the best. Now he enjoys naps on soft blankets in a quiet home. CRUISE is a chill little guy who is good with other dogs. He would likely be happiest with another dog in the home, but we think he would be okay as an only too, as long as he doesn't spend a lot of time alone. We do not know how he would be with cats or kids. If there are kids in the home they should be older. CRUISE does well with his potty training with a good routine. He likes short leash walks with his foster mom but she takes a stroller along for longer walks and he enjoys riding like a little prince! He hasn't been kenneled and likely wouldn't enjoy it, as he thrives on being with his person. A fenced yard would be a bonus, but is not a requirement. CRUISE is missing the lower half of his left front leg. Our vet confirmed it's a birth defect and not causing him pain, so there's no need for an amputation. He gets around beautifully, can do stairs, and even mastered the dog door without hesitation. At night, CRUISE loves sleeping in the big bed and will use a ramp to get up and down. His favorite spot is under the covers, tucked right next to you. *A Place of Hope Rescue is a foster-based rescue located in Pensacola, Florida. We do not have a physical facility for visits.
