About Manita has till 8/17

URGENT!!!! MANITA, A2208197, is scheduled to be euthanized on 8/18 for severe kennel stress, self harming, and declining in shelter environment!!! She needs saving by 8/17!!!! She was 'found' on July 9th with her TWO 8 WEEK OLD PUPPIES (since adopted). She was dirty and covered with fleas. Manita has been overwhelmed by the loud noises of the shelter and all of the barking dogs in their kennels. She retreats to volunteer friends, looking for reassurance when it's loud and she startles easily. She has been starting to gain some confidence, exploring inquisitively when taken to a quiet courtyard area for enrichment. Her anxiety diminishes a bit when she is walking on leash and she has excellent leash manners. She started off in playgroup keeping to herself but on 8/11 she was much better, noted to be gentle/dainty, social, much more animated and playful! Zipping around yard and vocal in play. She's a different dog out of her kennel!!! A volunteer was walking past her kennel recently when she noticed that Manita was hanging, having gotten her head stuck in between the kennel bars. It is likely she was looking for a way to escape! A few people helped to free her and she was disoriented but unharmed. She has since been on medication to help her anxiety. But what Manita really needs is a stable, quiet home where she will be allowed to PROPERLY DECOMPRESS �%9D���%8F Manita has endeared herself to those who have met her and our hearts go out to her. We would be devastated if her short life ends in the shelter after all she has endured. Scheduled Euthanasia Date: 08/18/2025!
