Hi my name is Erik. I am writing to you about my dog, Rocco. I wanted to give you a clear, honest picture of our Rottweiler, because he's a really special dog, and I want him to find the right forever home. He's AKC certified, 100% German Rottweiler with all papers and fully vaccinated. He is intact (tail) which is what the AKC suggests for German Rottweilers specifically. We like it that way as you can tell how he's feeling emotionally just by watching his tail! He is healthy with no medical issues. We have treated him like royalty since we got him. We just moved to TN on to some land from the city and I am traveling back and forth every other week out of state. It's just not a suitable environment for him any longer and breaks my heart we need to rehome him. He's my favorite dog I have ever had. He's a one-year-old male, neutered, super sweet and affectionate, and was professionally trained for several months by a well-known celebrity trainer, so he knows all of his basic commands and has a really solid foundation. We invested a significant amount of money into Rocco from training to vets and accessories, he's got it all. He's smart, high-energy, and thrives with structure. He needs an experienced owner who can be a strong, confident leader - someone who will keep up with exercise, provide consistency, and challenge him mentally. He loves to work on his commands and especially with positive reinforcement like treats! He is food motivated so it's a great way to reinforce his training and behaviors you want to enforce. He's been treated with nothing but love and care since he was eight weeks old. He loves other dogs and is a favorite at daycare - plays beautifully with other dogs and all the staff at the daycare love him! That said, he can be a bit of a resource guarder around high-value toys or food, so whoever takes him will need to be aware of that and continue to reinforce boundaries. He's lived with two smaller dogs his whole life and only thing we have to do is feed him separately. He's fine with people just resource guarding food with other dogs around particularly if smaller dogs. He would be great with another large breed dog or by himself. It's all very manageable with experience. He's been around children, and we've noticed he can get a little nervous when they're young with very high-energy or unpredictable. He's never been aggressive with them, just a little unsure, so a home with older, calmer kids - or no kids - would likely be best. To be fully transparent: he has shown some reactivity at the vet, specifically a vet we tried out here in Franklin - barking and growling during shots. He's never bitten anyone, and he's never shown that kind of behavior in any other setting - daycare, groomers, or public - just the vet. I actually take him everywhere in public and he loves to e in the car and out and about in public as your partner. However, he did have an issue specifically this one vet. He never had issues with the vet he saw in CA and recently saw another vet here and had no issue. I want to be upfront about this but I also don't think it reflects who he really is. He's a sweet boy that loves people, loves to play, wants to be by you every second and is looking for his forever home. He's a wonderful, loyal, trainable dog - just young, strong, and still figuring things out. He currently weighs about 100 lbs and will likely fill out a bit more with age now that he's hit the one year old mark. With the right person who understands the breed and knows how to lead with confidence, he'll thrive. It pains me we have to rehome him. My schedule no longer allows us to keep him. We will provide collar, toys, leashes, large metal dog crate, etc. He loves his crate for sleeping at night or resting during the day if you need to leave for a few hours. He loves to be outside and has good recall, walks great on a leash, knows all basic commands both verbally and with hand signals. He's a very smart boy. If you have any questions about Rocco, I am happy to answer them. We need to find a home quickly as I am traveling again in a few days so hoping we get lucky and find the right fit soon. Thank you for reading.
