Some days I got let out. Some days I didn't. But I never questioned it - I just waited. And waited. Because I loved them. I thought I was home. I thought I belonged. But one day | they said they couldn't keep me anymore. Just like that, I was gone. Now I'm in a kennel. The lady here is kind, but I don't understand where I am or why I'm here. Sometimes I cry when it gets quiet, because the only family I've ever known is gone. They forgot about me long ago| but I miss them anyway. I don't know any better. I've been told I'm 'available' now. That someone might adopt me. That maybe someone will finally see me after six invisible years. But now my time here is almost up. My sponsorship - the money that's been paying for my kennel - has run out. If I can't find a home or raise enough to stay here a little longer, I'll lose this last bit of safety| and I don't know where I'll go. I'm a quiet, gentle 6-year-old black shepherd mix. Already neutered, vaccinated, and heartworm negative. I get along with other dogs I've met here. I'm timid at first, but once I feel safe, I just want to be by your side. I don't need much - just a calm home, a soft place to rest, and a person who won't give up on me.
