I want to share a bit about our beloved Rottweiler, full breed with paperwork, whom we adopted when he was just a year old (3 years ago), and became his 4th owners. He is an incredibly intelligent dog who learns commands in no time and has a great love for exercise. He gets along wonderfully with our female Rottweiler and shows no aggression towards people or food. However, he does struggle with impulse control when it comes to other dogs we encounter on walks, as well as things like scooters and even the TV at home. We've made every effort to help him cope with these triggers, and while we have some good days and okay days, there are times when his fear and frustration can lead him to redirect those feelings towards our other dog or even me when I'm walking them. With my husband working nights and sleeping during the day, I handle the walks by myself, and it has become quite overwhelming at times. I truly believe this is an amazing dog who would thrive in the care of an experienced owner or trainer. I just want what's best for him, and I think he deserves a chance to flourish with an owner who is a strong trainer and disciplinarian. I am not able to go through the Rottie rescue service, because he has a bite history. He redirected towards me when triggered by another dog across the street. In three years, he has done this only one time, but I do not want to deceive anyone by saying it has not happened.
