About ATHENA

*LOCAL ADOPTION ONLY - Within a one hour drive to Pensacola, FL* ATHENA is a stunning 13-month-old, 13 pound Shih Tzu. With her beautiful silver, grey, and tan coat, and expressive face, she's a real head-turner. Athena came into rescue with her sister Kira after their previous owner realized that two high-energy puppies were more than they could handle. They were adopted together but returned because they were an incredibly mischievous pair! The decision was made to separate the girls and they did great apart. ATHENA has truly come into her own and is thriving in her foster home. ATHENA is an absolute love bug. Belly rubs, snuggles, and pets are her favorite things. If you're looking for personal space, she's not your girl. ATHENA wants to be near her person at all times. ATHENA would do best in a home with another small dog around her age and size to play with. Zoomies and tug-of-war are two of her favorite ways to spend the day. She gets along wonderfully with all the dogs in her foster home, and a playful companion is a must. We have not had her around cats or kids but think she would be okay with older kids familiar with small dogs. ATHENA has a great appetite, adores treat time, and is both housebroken and pee pad trained. She's also leash trained and loves exploring the yard. A secure fenced yard is required. At night, ATHENA sleeps as close to you as possible (ideally on you!). Potential adopters should keep in mind that ATHENA will need to be brushed and groomed to keep her coat mat-free and looking its best. ATHENA has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, spayed, heartworm negative, had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. *A Place of Hope Rescue is a foster-based rescue located in Pensacola, Florida. We do not have a physical facility for visits. To meet or adopt one of our dogs, you must first submit an adoption application for review. Please remember to check your spam folder for any communication from our team. We adopt to homes within a 1-6 hour drive to Pensacola. Puppies and dogs with pending vet appointments, and some dogs with behavioral or medical issues are only adoptable locally. We do not ship or transport our dogs.
