Courtesy Posting: X URGENT at MESA, AZ- ID #A5148864 - MARICOPA COUNTY ANIMAL CARE (EAST VALLEY) - ADORABLE, FRIENDLY 1 yr, 35 lb PETITE RARE BLUE FEMALE CHOW 'MISS KODI'- ADOPTABLE, BUT MAY NEED RESCUE AND THUS ALSO A FOSTER TO SAVE HER LIFE! SHELTER IS FULL and puts many chows on their euth list suddenly. Please help us find a good home or foster and rescue for this adorable, little young girl who was found as stray and her owner sadly never showed. We understand the finder had Kodi for about 3 days before bringing her to a very full shelter. The finder stated she was standoffish at first like many chows are, but softens once she feels safe. They also said she did not bark, showed no signs of aggression, had no accidents inside, and walked well on a leash. The shelter notes state she, 'is able to leash dog with ease; Dog remained still when leashed; thrashed a little with any leash pressure; handler opened door and dog followed handler out; handler kept speaking softly to dog; Dog walked to yard with loose leash pull; was weary passing barking dogs; ignored and kept walking; When in yard dog explored yard; immediately urinated in a few spots; Dog solicited pets and attention to handler; and continued exploring yard; Handler would verbally coax dog over and dog came; dog allowed petting and handling all over; Dog walked along fence line; then dog came over and approached handler; stood up on front twos on handlers lap and allowed petting; Dog was neutral bodied; when time to return dog back; dog walked back with same loose leash pull; ignored dogs in passing; hesitant on entering kennel but with redirection and handler stepped in dog followed; Handler attempted to unleash dog; dog seemed a little weary when tryin to remove leash; but allowed handler to unleash by hand with no issues.' Miss Kodi has been estimated to be only 1 year old and weighs only 35 lbs, She is now adoptable but likely is on borrowed time. She is also just began having some diarrhea, likely due to heat and stress. This sadly, may also streamline her to the euthanasia list despite being a nice girl.
