Courtesy Posting: BEYOND URGENT (already unlisted, but still alive) at PHOENIX, AZ- ID #A5148635 - MARICOPA COUNTY ANIMAL CARE (WEST VALLEY) - ADORABLE, FRIENDLY YOUNG MALE CHOW 'TEDDY'- was ADOPTABLE, BUT LIKELY NOW NEEDS IMMEDIATE RESCUE AND THUS ALSO A FOSTER TO SAVE HIS LIFE! SHELTER IS FULL and puts many chows on their euth list suddenly. After a friendly outing in the playyard, the same day, he was catch poled and dragged and is now Orange listed and removed offline, and now said to be under evaluation. We are told he is likely to be added to the euth list on a very short deadline! (for fb only add) PLEASE CONTACT ROBIN WITH ANY QUESTIONS, AS SHARED POSTS AND COMMENTS MAY NOT BE SEEN OR ANSWERED. Please help us find a chow savvy home and or foster and rescue for this adorable, young boy who was found originally as stray. The finder stated, 'THAT THIS DOG JUST WALKED ONTO THEIR PROPERTY. THIS DOG WILLINGLY APPROACHED THE FINDER'S 12 YRS OLD DAUGHTER. THE FINDER STATES THAT HE HAS BEEN VERY NICE AND ALLOWED ALL PETTING AND HANDLING. FINDER STATES THAT HE HAD ON A NAME TAG - TEDDY, BUT IT FELL OFF.' We understand the finder had Teddy for about 3 weeks, but had 5 cats, and when Teddy lunged at one of them as many dogs might do, the finder brought him to this very full shelter. Instead of Teddy being listed as a stray where his owner might be able to find him, if looking, Teddy has now been listed as an owner surrender with a stipulation of no cats. Teddy has been estimated to be only two years old and weighs 51 lbs, and was made adoptable. On 8/6, he was noted as having serious nasal discharge and placed on doxy. However, a volunteer unaware of this, and seeing bo signs of this as seen in photos and videos, took him out in the playyard where Teddy enjoying pets all over, even under his chin, as well as loving to play with a ball. Please refer to the many videos we are posting on facebook. Not too long after this same day, a potential adopter came to meet him, but Teddy did not want to go into the meeting area and was trying to get away. The adoption did not go through, and staff was then seen using a catch pole on him which understandably freaked him out. After this, Teddy was removed from the shelter's portal and 24petconnect, and we feared he was or will be euthanized very soon. Volunteers have now pleaded for his life. He was still alive as of 8/7 morning, but his portal notes are still not back up and tehre is an Orange card on his kennel saying to not let him out and that he is under evaluation. If they do re-list them/him, he may be rescue only now, and will need an immediate exit. Rescues need a qualified foster to save. Once re-listed, a copy of full behavior and medical notes, may be on their New Hope portal at: https://apps.pets.maricopa.gov/newhope. If he is again made adoptable, he/they will be listed here: https://apps.pets.maricopa.gov/adoptPets/ If you may be interested in adopting, please contact the shelter immediately and directly at (602) 506-7387, ask for him by ID.. Adoptions are currently only $50 currently, and include spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, microchip. If he is not adoptable, we encourage you to reach out to us to foster to adopt through a willing rescue group. We are also looking for an qualified foster since he very likely needs immediate rescue, or someone who may want to foster to adopt him from the rescue group. If interested in fostering, fostering-to-adopt, or helping in some other way (ie., pledging for his rescue), please also contact [email protected] asap or Southern California Chow Chow Rescue Network who is trying to find placement. We will try to pair fosters or interested parties with a rescue group. Rescue groups may contact the shelter directly at [email protected] and by calling 602-506-7387 and providing the ID. His former listing was: https://24Petconnect.com/DetailsMain/MRCP/A5148635 but he is currently unlisted We will be posting videos, additional pictures and updates on facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/debbie.alder.14/posts/pfbid02BQmyDWcL2tZDBrnhUt9TPbfaXGj5hoyQQcKCPs7SzdZEVby69VWVmRBc9akyc7Kql Note: to view contents of links you will need to copy and paste each one separately into your browser.
