About Howard

My name is Taylor Hudson, and I'm reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for urgent help in rehoming my dog, Howard. This is not a decision I've made lightly, but one I've come to out of concern for my family's safety and a sincere desire to find Howard the peaceful home he deserves. Howard is about 6 years old and has been with me for the past four years, after I found him wandering the streets. He's an extremely sweet, loyal boy who has always been incredibly affectionate and protective. He's truly been my shadow - loving, alert, and devoted. However, he's always been a little nervous, and over time that anxiety has become more pronounced, especially around my 5-year-old son. Despite my best efforts - including never leaving them alone together, encouraging my son to feed and care for him, and rewarding Howard with treats for positive interactions - the situation hasn't improved. In fact, it's gotten worse. A few days ago, Howard bit my son's face. Thankfully, it wasn't a serious injury, but it was a clear warning that I can no longer safely keep him in a home with young children. This is absolutely heartbreaking. Howard is not aggressive by nature - he's just anxious and seems to believe he needs to protect me from my child. I truly believe that in a calm, child-free home (or with older, respectful children), he will thrive. He has so much love to give and is truly a good dog at heart. I'm not asking for a rehoming fee. I just want to find Howard a safe, stable environment where he can feel secure and not so on edge. I'm also happy to offer a financial donation to help cover the cost of his care - food, medical attention, or anything else needed to ease his transition into a new home.
